Festival de Cannes: Official Selection

The film community will be extremely excited to hear what new films will be in competition and screened for the 2020 Cannes Film Festival

The Official Selection will be unveiled by Thierry Frémaux, Festival de Cannes General Delegate, in attendance of its President Pierre Lescure, on Thursday, April 16th 2020 11 am CET, at the UGC Normandie during a press conference.

The Jury of the Competition, lead by the director Spike Lee, will grant the Palme d’or among the films announced at the end of the Festival, that will take place this year from May 12 to May 23.

Meanwhile, on Sunday the 8th of March, the French government announced new restrictions to limit the spread of coronavirus, which includes banning any gatherings of more than 1,000 people.

Speculation on the possible cancellation is mounting, however, a spokesperson at the festival confirmed that it is very much business as usual and there are no plans for cancellation.

The only time the festival has ever been cancelled was 1968! Stand by!
