£500m Investment into the UK studio sector

Piers Read, producer of The Inbetweeners and Peep Show, and Jeremy Rainbird, who launched Bafta-winning production company Merman, acquire Twickenham Studios aiming to invest further into the sector.

Their company, The Creative District Improvement Company (TCDI) and subsidiary operating company, Time + Space Studios, aim to generate 5,000 jobs in the industry with this move.

As part of the investment plan, the company has applied for planning permission to build a £148 million new studio complex in Kent, which will have four stages totalling 80,000 square feet.

It’s an exciting period for the entertainment industry as Sky has also unveiled plans for a new 32-acre production complex in Elstree and Netflix and Disney take over existing spaces at Shepperton and Pinewood Studios.
